Israel, you are not alone
Standing with Israel and the Jewish people is
not just about words; it requires action. Our conviction as Christians should be to say what we mean and mean what we say.
Over the past few months, thousands of Christians across the UK have signed CUFI’s Pledge for Israel with the declared purpose: “Because I am a Christian, I stand with Israel.” One aim of this pledge (go to www.cufi.org.uk/pledge) is to demonstrate to the Jewish people that they are not alone.
An important way to support Israel is through prayer. Over the past 12 months an army of Christians has risen up in prayer and intercession for Israel. Christians have been praying fervently for Israel’s victory over its enemies and protection for its people. We must continue.
As Israel faces increasing threats from multiple sides, the hardening of hearts in the international arena, and rising antisemitism across the world, thousands of Christians have also taken time to write to their MP through CUFI’s campaigns. Every attempt to undermine the Jewish state must be pushed back. Our country’s relationship with Israel depends on it.
When we reached the first anniversary of October
7th, dozens of churches across the country responded to CUFI’s invitation to hold commemorations in their services and prayer meetings. Thousands of individuals and families also participated by lighting candles and using CUFI’s other resources to remember the victims of that tragic day and pray for the remaining hostages. We would like to thank everyone who participated.
We would also like to thank all those CUFI supporters who joined us in our nation’s capital to stand shoulder- to-shoulder with the Jewish community in London’s Hyde Park, marking one year since the October 7 terror
attacks in Israel. Around 30,000 gathered at the very moving memorial event organised by Jewish community groups. CUFI was honoured to be among 40 stalls along the perimeter of the event in Hyde Park with a message from Christians to the Jewish community – “you are not alone.”
We also filmed the event. To watch CUFI’s highlights of the Hyde Park Memorial, please go to www.cufi.org.uk/October7
Twelve months on, Israel faces unprecedented challenges. Hostages remain captive in Gaza and need to be returned. The Iranian regime and their proxies, Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis, are trying to enact their stated aims – to destroy Israel. But they will not succeed. Israel wants to live and God will not allow it to happen.
We have seen that Israel’s fight is not confined to the battlefield. The wave of misinformation has attempted to make Israel the perpetrator, not the victim. With many in politics, the media and in the international community buying into this deception, it has become more important than ever to make the truth known. Meanwhile, antisemitism in the UK has tripled in the past year – not because of Israel’s actions, but because of Israel’s existence. It is a stain on our country, but as Christians we want the Jewish community to know that this is NOT in our name.
Through the past year, CUFI supporters have put words into action and helped us confront the lies. But we must not stop. Please stand with CUFI as we advocate for Israel and the Jewish people. Please consider supporting CUFI with a donation to support our vital work either by becoming a partner through a monthly donation, or by making a one-off gift. And let us continue to put our words into action and never, ever, hold our peace – For Zion’s Sake!
