DES STARRITT
Executive Director, CUFI UK
The CUFI Washington Summit is always a highlight of the year for me as I travel to the US capital and join with thousands
of pro-Israel Christians “across the pond”. This year was exceptionally encouraging.
At last year’s Washington Summit, the CUFI leadership laid out a plan to accomplish three objectives in 2017:
1. Move the US Embassy to Jerusalem
2. Withdraw the US from the Iran Deal 3. Pass the Taylor Force Act in Congress
In one short year all three of these major goals have been accomplished following active campaigning by CUFI. Praise the Lord!
The 2018 Washington Summit was a huge success. More delegates attended than previous years. Importantly, there were also more US politicians in attendance. Many were not even invited as speakers, but came of their own will because they understand that CUFI is having
an impact and that they needed to be seen showing their support for Israel. Highlighting the di erence when a government stands with Israel!
Also this year it was encouraging to see international delegates, including some from the UK, attending the Summit and being able to meet with their country’s o icial representatives in the Capitol, speaking to them about how their nations should be standing with Israel.
In the UK, the picture is somewhat di erent. While our government takes a neutral position in most issues relating to Israel, the opposition party has been taken over by an anti-Israel leadership that has become embroiled in a

crisis over anti-Semitism.
We realise that now more than ever we
must stand up and speak out for Israel and the Jewish people, which is why we have launched a Christians Against Anti-Semitism Declaration. This declaration provides Christians with an opportunity to commit to lead by example, calls for tougher action against anti-Semitism and addresses the current crisis within the Labour Party. We believe that Christians must stand
up and stand with the Jewish people and the nation of Israel.
“For the safety and security of the
Jewish people in Britain and for the future
of our country, we will not allow the Jewish community to stand alone,” reads the statement, which includes five areas Christians commit to stand with the Jewish community.
So far thousands of British Christians have signed the Declaration since it launched in August. We are believing for thousands more.
I encourage you to get involved in this campaign if you haven’t already and invite your friends and family to also get involved. You can read more about the Declaration and how you can help on the back of this update.
Finally we are holding a special regional event on Saturday, 13 October 2018 in Coventry and would love to have you join us in supporting Israel. The event will run from 10am to 4pm and will include talks, teachings and worship.
Thank you for standing with us and being involved in our work.

astor Hagee said “few people in the CUFI as she accepted the award, saying, “What’s history of American diplomacy can amazing about Christians United for Israel is
be compared to the woman whose not just the power of your voice. It’s also the
last 18 months have been spent fearlessly importance of the cause you have dedicated
confronting the unreasonable and immoral anti-Israel bias at the United Nation. Ambassador Nikki Haley is a courageous voice of truth in one of the most misguided, hypocritical organisations in the world, the United Nations.”
Pastor Hagee explained that for the past
70 years, America has defended Israel at the UN, but said that there had never been an Ambassador who was so “consistently bold and unwavering in their defence of the Jewish state”.
“Each year the leadership of CUFI selects the one person in America that we feel has done the most to defend and protect Israel. We are delighted and highly honoured to present this award to Ambassador Haley,” Pastor Hagee said as he presented her with the award.
The award was a large golden plate engraved with Isaiah 62:1 – “For Zion’s sake I will not keep silent, for Jerusalem’s sake I will not remain quiet, till her vindication shines out like the dawn, her salvation like a blazing torch.”
Ambassador Haley o ered kind words to
your voice to.”
Haley also called CUFI the “tip of the spear”
in the fight against anti-Israel attitudes. “Standing up against this global pressure
campaign on Israel and the Jewish people goes to the heart of our friendship and the heart of America. And the tip of the spear is Christians United for Israel. What you are doing is so important. And may
God bless you for it.” Ambassador Haley
has been a strong
voice of truth at the United Nations, a
place she refers to as
a “global epicentre of anti-Semitism”. During her keynote speech at the CUFI Summit she credited her Christian faith as the driving force for her to speak out for Israel at the UN.
