L ast month we commented on how the UK Government’s attitude towards Israel could be changing. We
believe contributing factors are the rise of Christian support for Israel in our nation as well as a growing number of Christians praying for both Britain and Israel.
Christians United for Israel UK has been witnessing rapid growth since we started in 2015. However, while we have seen good progress, it is important that we understand there is a long way to go.
For too long the Church in Britain has been passive. Too many churches have “sat on the fence” on a number of key issues a ecting Christians and many have felt voiceless. As a result, the church has lost its impact.
We see this in regards to support for Israel. Too many churches stand on the sidelines, not wanting to be controversial. Others, however, have been deceived into accepting ‘replacement theology’, the false teaching that the Church has replaced Israel. Sadly, we see churches and certain Christian organisations choosing to criticise Israel, bowing to outside pressures, rather than following Biblical truth.
From Bible times until today, the enemies of God have stirred up hatred against the Jewish people. Unfortunately, the church has not been immune to this ancient evil. We must continue to take a stand against anti-Semitism.
At Christians United for Israel we find it hard to understand how anyone can claim to believe the Bible and yet not be a Zionist. From Genesis to Revelation the promises
of God for both Israel and the Church are revealed. For those of us who understand this truth, a passion for Israel is as natural as any other aspect of our faith.
We believe that CUFI UK has been established for this hour as evidenced in the amazing growth of this ministry. We have been so encouraged this past year to see thousands of Christians connect with our organisation from the far reaches of the British Isles and beyond.
Importantly, those who love Israel are not just supporting from the sidelines. Many of you feel emboldened to participate; praying, signing petitions and speaking out on behalf of Israel.
In this update, we are pleased to share some of the ways in which God is using CUFI-UK to stand with Israel. We have also put together some statistics demonstrating some of the growth we experienced last year, and we hope you will be encouraged to see the impact your support is making.
Also in this update, we give you the opportunity to raise your voice for Israel with our #IAmBalfour campaign, pledging your support for Britain’s role in establishing the state of Israel. You can also get involved with our campaign to counter the anti- Israel hatred in our universities.
We know there is much to be done, but we are truly encouraged by the progress being made. Thank you for standing with Israel and the Jewish people. Your support is making a real di erence.
For Zion’s Sake,
Des Starritt
