We are further expanding CUFI’s #IAmBalfour campaign so you can now involve your family, friends and church groups by signing the #IAmBalfour declaration in support of Israel.
Our campaign celebrates the letter of 1917 that declared British support for a Jewish homeland and paved the
way for Israel to be reborn as a nation. The #IAmBalfour declaration invites supporters of Israel to stand in solidarity with Israel during this important Centenary year.
The campaign is also a direct response to those who oppose the Balfour Declaration. For example, Mahmoud Abbas, the leader of the Palestinian Authority, called upon the United Nations to pressure Britain to apologise for the Balfour Declaration. We will not apologise. In fact, we feel the attack on this declaration is an attack on the very existence of Israel and is at its root anti-Semitic.
It may be Lord Arthur Balfour’s signature on the paper, but that signature is backed by millions of people who stand with Israel and who love the Jewish people.
prayer group as well as your family and friends and ask them to sign the declaration.
Every name we receive will be presented in November
to the British Foreign O ice and the Israeli Embassy in London to show Israel and our government that the British people stand with Israel and are proud of Britain’s role in Israel’s rebirth as a nation.
To sign your name to the declaration, please use the enclosed declaration sheet and send it back to us with one or more names. You can also sign online at: www.iambalfour.org
When you sign, you can tick whether you would like to receive a special IAmBalfour certificate. This certificate will contain the declaration of support for Israel, which you can sign and keep for display or as a reminder of your support for Israel.
This year is an amazing opportunity to show support
for Israel and counter the hatred against the Jewish people. Please help us spread the word and thank you for supporting Israel through this campaign.
WELCOMING NETANYAHU TO BRITAIN
In February, CUFI UK was pleased to be part of a gathering, organised by the Zionist Federation, to welcome Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu to the UK.
Christians, Jews and secular groups joined together to give the Israeli PM a warm welcome and display support for the strengthening of UK and Israel relations.
As usual there was a large crowd of anti-Israel demonstrators, although it was smaller than previous years. The pro-Israel crowd, on the other hand, almost doubled in size compared to Netanyahu’s previous visit in 2015.
The hatred for Israel, and even Britain, was on display when, shockingly, the
singing of “God Save the Queen” from supporters of Israel was met with loud boos from the anti-Israel protesters. However, the Israel supporters sang both national anthems loud and proud to drown out the hate.
We feel it is important to show our support for Israel on occasions
like this and not let the hate and intimidation from those against Israel silence us. It was encouraging to
see more people openly show their support for Israel on the streets of our capital.
