Unconditional covenants covenants magnify the grace and favour of of our our Lord conditional conditional covenants covenants remind us of of our our accountability to God’s authority Furthermore in in a a a a a a a a a a world that has largely rejected the the the One True God God the the the covenants reveal His great love by making it it possible for sinful people to to to enter into communion with Him It is is is important to to understand that that every covenant that that God has made is is under under attack In this article we
will focus primarily on the covenants that relate to Israel But let us us begin by outlining seven main covenants that we
can identify in in in in the Bible The Adamic Covenant centres around God’s command to Adam Adam regarding the the the tree of of the the the knowledge of of good and and and evil Its backdrop is the the the the truth that that God God created the the world and and and everything in in in it it it and and and saw that that it it it was good God God made man in in in His own image He created male male and and and female with the instruction to to be fruitful and and and and multiply commissioned man man man with with the mandate to to to care for for Creation and and and willed for for mankind to to walk in in in communion with with Him The rebellion of Adam and Eve introduced the curses against mankind as as well as as God’s provision for that sin The Noahic Covenant is an an an unconditional and and everlasting covenant that God made with with Noah his descendants and and with with every living creature After the the the the Flood God gave
the the the the the rainbow as the the the the the sign of the the the the the covenant promising that in in in in God’s mercy there would
never again be a a a a a worldwide flood to destroy the earth The Abrahamic Covenant is also an an an an unconditional and everlasting covenant meaning that it it it will never be rescinded Within the Covenant God made several promises to to Abraham and and his physical
descendants pertaining to to blessing and and the making of a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a great nation This covenant was reaffirmed to to Isaac and Jacob allowing no confusion as as as to to whom the inherited
blessing blessing was promised promised Their blessing blessing also included a a a a a a a a a physical
promised promised land and and the the the provision of of a a a a a a a a Messiah All the the the families
of of the the the earth would
be blessed through this covenant The blessing pronounced upon Rebekkah before being betrothed to Isaac incorporates the the special covenant of marriage that would
be integral to generations of Abraham’s descendants inheriting their promised blessing
