Ulysses Club Arthritis Research Fund (UCARF)

Our beloved founding member the late Stephen Dearnley (#1) left us a
greatlegacy in the form of the Ulysses Club. An important part of this legacy is
theestablishment in 1998 of the club’s preferred charity – arthritis research.

Not long before his passing Stephen expressed to Kim Kennerson that he was
anxious that UCARF would not only survive but continue to prosper into the
future long after his departure. Kim embraced this challenge and managed the
portfolio for 13 years (1998 – 2021) and successfully championed the UCARF
cause. Many research advancements have been achieved because of our
FUND. No cure to date but that will come in time and specific research efforts.
Thank you to all members for your strong, unselfish and continuing support for
this great cause.

The Ulysses Club continues to be one of the leading sponsors of arthritis
research in Australia. In recent years we have sponsored projects led by
Associate Professor Meilang Xue (PhD) of the Sutton Arthritis Research
Laboratory based in Sydney and she will hopefully continue to be the lead for
many years to come.

At this Rally/AGM event UCARF will have raffle tickets for sale on site with
many great prizes to be won. The BIG bi-annual raffle wasn’t covid safe (to
much risk with borders etc) so I decided to hold off for a clearer environment
to hold such an important fund raiser. So my friends, gear up for a busy 2023
at Lismore.

Thank you is given to the combined efforts of the SEQld Branches, National
Committee, the Township of WARWICK and everyone else involved in
providing us with what promises to be an exceptional happening for the
Ulysses Club.

Enjoy your rally event, I look forward to this great get together and the
opportunity to catch up with Ulysses friends from around this big island of
ours.
