           Injinoo
Continuing north you’ll come across the first of the five towns
that make up the NPA, Injinoo, a small community of around
500 residents. With a school, church and service station, it is
also home to the five tribal groups that are custodians for all
                                       th
the country north of the 12 parallel.
There is a picturesque picnic area on the beach and a boat
ramp, handy if you’re planning a trip to Mutee Head. There
have been good barramundi caught in Cowel Creek but bear in
mind, it also contains more than its fair share of crocodiles.

Don’t be surprised to see horses wandering around. In fact,
horses, and dogs, seem to think they have the right-of-way
           throughout the NPA.

There are two tips in the NPA, between the Mutee Head turn off
and Injinoo – the rubbish tip.

           Umagico (Alau)
The second community you’ll come to is Umagico, also known
as Alau. It has a population of 400 and is a traveller’s gem. It’s
slightly off the mainstream radar and offers a most relaxing
beachside stopover for any visitor wanting to take some time
out. There you’ll find a supermarket and campground.

           Alau Campground
Alau Campground, one of the NPA’s best kept secrets, provides
a quiet and blissful interlude to what can be hectic travels
during the height of the season.

Situated right on the beach it’s a great spot to chill out. The
beach is the place to be at sunset, as everyone gathers to
           watch the falling sun.

Accommodation: Powered and unpowered sites, shelters
Facilities: Kiosk, toilets & showers, swimming pool, laundry
