MIDWEEK RIDE 8TH DEC 2021 - CORIO SHELL CLUB
Report by Mark Nicoll Photos by A Non E Mouse
For the final organised midweek ride for the year, Ron led us on a gentle ride (pun intended)
firstly to Meredith for
morning coffee and snacks, and then to the Shell Club in Corio for lunch.
11 of us at the start, with a couple in full wet weather gear, which of course guaranteed it
would not rain.
And it didn't!
Apparently there was some wet stuff over the Bellarine earlier.
So heading off we had bit of a different start, going via Queens Bridge and Fyansford, then
out for a meander via the ever-popular
Moorabool Valley, traversing through Maude, She-Oaks and Steiglitz, and cruising into
Meredith.
Bob joined us in Meredith, all the way from ... Meredith (but he did join us for lunch too).
There we had a leisurely break, with some of us partaking of the good value deal of the $8
coffee & cake at the General Store.
From there we went out via Slate Quarry Rd, over the newly finished bridge.
The bridge is very good, but they really need to fix up the road either side of it.
Then along Ballan Rd, with a short delay where they are still fixing up the collapse of half
the road through the cutting near the Staughton Vale turn off.
Then along Anakie Rd, with a turn to take in the scenic Tower Hill Rd, with the views over
Geelong, then into Corio from the North.
Unfortunately Ron had to leave us once we got there, to attend a funeral in Werribee, and
John G headed off to find some different fare.
A surprise on entering as Patt had joined us for lunch too.
As stated, it was an easy, gentle ride with a good finish with very good quality and amply
portioned Senior's priced meals.
Thanks Ron for the lead, and thanks to the group for making my job as TEC a very simple
one!
