Ride Report: John Grace
Today’s ride was a leisurely one of about 75 kms from the Corio Bay Roadhouse to the Chocolate factory at
Bellbrae. We headed off at 10:30 am and nine riders undertook the ride and stayed on for lunch. A big thank you
once again to Patt for volunteering to be TEC.
I had programmed my Tom Tom GPS for a “thrilling ride” option and that is what we got. Including a turn by
turn tour of the back streets of Corio. Perhaps some riders thought I had lost my marbles as we zig zagged along
taking in the sites, but we made it with no U-turns and only one sore clutch wrist and one dodgy turn indicator
button from overuse.
Once we had cleared Geelong’s northern suburbs it was on to the east via Creamery Rd where we caught the
extensive electricity line upgrade works on the Midland Highway. So a nice stop to admire the scenery, the lolly
pop men and woman and then a 40 km/h jaunt towards Batesford. Next was a few hundred metres of good
gravel road on Black Rock Rd. Then into the hills via Pollicksford Road and onto Moriac via the Hendy Main Rd.
Phew time for a breather and a wee stop and a quick phone call or to check our stock portfolios.
From Moriac we continued on Hendy Main Rd and then on Forrest Rd all the way to the Chocolate place by
12:00pm for lunch where we met up with Lauri who had driven there.
So a good Ulysses PSM ride then with slow speeds, multiple turns, a gravel road section and no U turns.
Thank you to all the riders for a safe and incident free morning. See you on the next one. JohnG
