Who is
Shebah?
Shebah
Shebah. is the all-women rideshare app that specialises in
transporting women, children, families and vulnerable passengers.
After launching in Melbourne in 2017, Shebah is the original disrupter to creating safe
transport in Australia for drivers, women riders, parents and their children. Safety for
women was at the core of why it was started, and this has never changed.
When did Shebah launch?
As a single mother of 4 kids, Shebah Founder & CEO, Georgina McEncroe was looking
for a more flexible working option to meet her family's needs. She considered Uber
driving but felt uneasy about her safety. She also recognised that there was a lack of
women working in these industries, many for the same reasons she chose not to.
George also felt a sense of unease about the safety of her teenage daughter who at the
time was starting to go out with her friends. It was at this point that Shebah was born as a
service where women felt safe working, and travelling. She also recognised a gap in the
transport market helping to solve family logistics.
Why Shebah?
Shebah is named after the biblical icon - The travelling Queen of Shebah. In this story,
Shebah travelled to visit King Solomon and challenged him on his teachings. Shebah
was the original disruptor, she was a strong single mother, was outspoken and strong.
Everything that women in the Shebah community represent.
