volunteer to help us.” He raised a warning finger. “However, I’m
willing to help you only on condition that you promise not to
take matters into your own hands. If you intend to be foolhardy
and put yourself at risk, I will not be able to help! The Jewish
committee has too many problems to contend with as it is!”
“I understand,” Yosef nodded wearily.
Leiby clapped him on his shoulder affectionately and together,
the two returned to their home at the end of the street.
