The Paper Airplane Guy

3 John Collins is a paper airplane expert from the USA. Collins's interest in
4 making paper airplanes began at age nine. Since then, he has spent more
5 than 40 years studying the science of making paper planes. He is well known
6 for holding a world record with his paper plane design.
7 In 2012, Collins's design set a new Guinness World Record for flying the
8 longest distance by a paper airplane. It flew 226 feet 10 inches and broke the
9 earlier record in 2003 by 19 feet 6 inches. This distance is farther than eight
10 buses which are lined up in a row.
11 After his success at age 51, Collins decided to begin a career in paper
12 plane making. In the following years, he wrote books and traveled around to
13 teach people about his record-breaking design.
14 Collins is in his sixties now. He goes to schools and museums to teach
15 students science through paper plane making. By doing so, Collins hopes to
16 get kids excited about science so that they can learn it better.
