OBITUARY

Raymond Charles Perry was the son of the late Evans
C. Perry, Sr., and the late Hattie M. Bryant Perry. Born
on April 28, 1960, in Jacksonville (Duval County), Flori-
da. Raymond received his education from Forest Park
and Lackawanna Elementary Schools, John Gorrie & Jeff
Davis Junior High Schools, and graduated from Tech-
nical High School, Class of 1978. Raymond was offered
a basketball scholarship from Dartmouth College and
attended Bethune Cookman College.

Raymond was employed with the City of Jacksonville,
Lee & Cates Glass, and Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) as a bus
operator. Raymond, who was affectionately known as “Ray,” “Mr. Perry,” or
“Raymon,” received Christ in his life at an early age. He never saw anyone as a
stranger and enjoyed life to the fullest. Raymond departed into the arms of
Jesus on Sunday, December 12, 2021.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Evans
C. Perry, Sr., and Hattie M. Bryant Perry, and grandparents
(Rev. James M. & Eva B. Bryant); 8 sisters (Clemmie, Carrie
Bell, Mamie, Mary, Frances, Eva, Meredith, and Marjorie);
and, 5 brothers (Calvin, Evans, Jr., William, Tommy Lee
and John Louis). He leaves to cherish his memory his
son Raymond (Shauna), daughter Rayna, grandchildren
Atiyah, Ahmir, Kianna, and Rianna. 5 siblings: Gwendo-
lyn (East Hartford, CT), James, Sr. (Jackson, MS), Sandra,
Cynthia, and John Lafayette. Uncle: John Bryant, Sr.
(Macon, GA), Aunt: Elizabeth Reynolds (Orangedale, FL).
Nieces and Nephews: Gregory, Anitra, Henry, Jr., Damian, James, Jr., John,
Jacqueline, Jason, Shomari, Jamaal, Brittany, Sherica, Kadeem, Kaymar, Ida,
Flossie, Arthur, Sr., Jessie, Essie, Charlie Henry, Willie James, Julia (Matthew),
Mary Lane, Bobby, and Michael (Nazarine). Sisters-in-law: Gloria Dean Perry
(Detroit, MI) and Jacquelyn V. Perry. Great, great-great nieces and nephews,
many cousins among them Stephen (Ruth), Reggie (Debbie), Richard, John-
John (Yolanda), Juan (Lydia), Tuchette (Maurice), Brian (Stephanie), Anita
(Steve), Ezell, Jr., James, Laquita, Gloria, Annette, Reginald, Tinyka, Valeria,
Keith, and Rosalind. Close friends: Charmaine, Matthew, and Bruce, and a
host of other relatives and many friends.
