The Life of Joan Aretha Wright Davis
Joan Aretha Wright-Davis affectionately known as
“Joann” was born on February 5th, 1934 in
Jacksonville, Florida. She was the oldest of 9
children born to the late Florida Bryant and Gilbert
Wright, Jr. She graduated from Stanton High
School in 1952 and continued her education,
graduating from Edward Waters College in 1962
with
with her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary
Education.
In October of 1955, she married James Davis, Jr.
and to their union three children were born:
Michael, Linda, and Gary.
She was employed with the Duval County Public
school system for over 30 years and was a devoted
teacher at Dinsmore Elementary until she retired in
1999.
In 1990, she gave her life to the Lord and was a
In
devoted member at Hope Chapel ministries. She
faithfully participated in Vacation Bible School and
Women’s Fellowship.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband of 59
years; James Davis, Jr. and her daughter; Linda
Marie Davis.
Joan’s earthly journey transitioned on Tuesday,
Joan’s
June 2nd.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her children:
Michael Eugene Davis and Gary James Davis Sr.
