Obituary
andra Louise Bennefield was born on March 30, 1954 in Jackson-
Sville, Florida, to Samuel Bennefield, Sr. and Dorothy Delifus Ben-
nefield-White. She was educated in the Duval County Public School
System and graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in 1972.
In 1983, Sandra happily married her sweetheart, Ralph Holmes who
was her partner in life for over 45 years, until her death.
andra was a productive, loyal and committed employee of In-
Sdependent Life Insurance Company for twenty-six years, and re-
tired from the Northeast Florida American Red Cross after 13 years
of faithful service. Sandra was a committed volunteer for the Duval
County Supervisor of Elections, as an Inspector Technician, and also
volunteered for the American Red Cross, and the Southern Wom-
en’s Show.
andra received Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour at Hope
SChapel Ministries in March 1983 where she remained a dedicat-
ed, and active member for thirty-seven years. Sandra was ordained as a Deacon and served faith-
fully as a Unit Leader, Church Administrator, Chairperson of the Leadership Team, Marriage Ministry,
the Minister’s Class and was also a member of Women’s Fellowship Ministry until the Lord called her
home. As a trusted servant of the Lord, Deacon Sandra, as she was affectionately known, inspired
others, provided valuable guidance, modeled effective leadership, and skillfully administered and
executed major events and activities for the ministry. She was greatly admired by her co-laborers in
the gospel. Her faith was unwavering and her love for her Pastor, her ministry – HCM, the saints and
above all the Lord, was unquestionable.
n amazing wife who loved Ralph with all her heart, Sandra enjoyed cooking his favorite foods Celebrating Leadership and Friendship
Aand spending quality time with him. She adored her two sons and instilled in them the won-
derful values that have served them well. Sandra loved her family, baking, and being a full-time
grandmother. Every year, she looked forward to her trip to Orlando, Fl. with all of her siblings. Sandra
was the matriarch of her family and loved planning gatherings with them. For any special family
event, you could count on Sandra to step in and add her special touch. She was known for her
ability to sense when her loved ones needed her help. She touched many lives with her generosity
and loving spirit. Sandra will always be remembered as a gentle, caring, and kind person.
andra went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 3, 2020. Sandra was preceded
Sin death by her parents Samuel Bennefield, Sr. and Dorothy Delifus Bennefield-White, and
one sister Patricia Wilson. Leaving to cherish her memories are her loving husband of 45 years,
Ralph Holmes; two sons: Maurice Brock and Terrance Holmes (Dwan); six brothers: Samuel Ben-
nefield, Jr. (Theresa), Steven Bennefield, Kelvin Wright (Yvonne), Randy White, Clarence L. White
and Washington Bennefield (Patti); eleven sisters: Cynthia Williams, Judy Renee Brown, Debra Ben-
nefield, Darlene Ball, Denise Bennefield, Cathy Lynn Bennefield, Valerie Johnson, Carmell White,
Tarsha White-Shepherd (Vincent), Freddie Lee White and Marion Bennefield; three grandchildren:
Erin Pompey (Edwin), London Holmes, and Jacob Brock; two great-grandchildren; Evan and Eli
Pompey, a dearly beloved mother-in-law: Betty Jones; two sisters-in-law: Sonji Monroe (James),
and Lacey Holmes; four brothers-in-laws: Burnell Holmes, Reginald Holmes (Daisy), Anthony
Holmes and Michael Holmes; two special aunts: Dyris Williams, and Jackie Harris; and a host of
nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
