FIRST ANNUAL CENTRAL HASTINGS OUTDOOR SHOW WAS A HOME RUN!
The Chamber held their first annual Central Hastings Outdoor Show and it was a home run with the community and the
visitors to the area. We already have 25 exhibitors booked for next June and returning sponsors.
One of the highlights of the event was Levi Caya the Wood Caver, amazing art! The pieces Levi carved will be on display at
the Chamber office starting July 1st. For the next four months we will be selling tickets on the carvings (one per month) and
at the end of each month a winning ticket will be announced. See the advertisement on page 24 as to where you can
purchase a ticket.
Black Kraken K9 put on a great show with his dogs, the Kids Casting Pond was a great hit, and for those of us that think we
are good at fishing, you need to try fishing for a magnet fish...good luck! LOL Now if you were at the show, did you get a
chance to taste the yummy food provided by the Madoc Lions Club, Speckle Lake Lodge and Countree Folk Cuisine. High
Spring Trading Post provided Indoor Axle Throwing and what a hoot this was!
The Chamber would like to send a huge THANK YOU out to all the volunteers, exhibitors and sponsors along with all the
community who came out to see the show and passed on comments for ideas and suggestions. We will build upon these for
next year, thank you from all the committee members of the show and the chamber.
ONE GUMBALL AT A TIME!
On Wednesday May 31, 2023, members of Centre Hastings
Council received a generous donation towards the Madoc Pool.
Local shop owner Angie Smith, from Honey & Oats Bulk Foods,
has raised over $535.00 from her store’s gumball machine.
To put this in perspective, that is 2,140 gumballs! Since day one
when the community was made aware of the aging pool, Angie
Smith, a former lifeguard at the Madoc Pool, has been incredibly
motivated to fundraise. This is Angie’s second time donating
since she began her fundraising journey in 2019.
While in attendance Mayor Deline stated, “The pool donations (In attendance for this cheque presentation, (L-R):left
held in our reserve account is sitting at $158,000, and this Deputy Mayor Eric Sandford, Angie Smith, Mayor Tom
amount is continuously growing thanks to determined Deline, and Councillor Kevin McLaughlin.)
