TOWNSHIP OF MADOC RESIDENTS
ACHIVEMENT CELEBRATION
On April 3rd residents of the Township of Madoc gathered to
celebrate the achievement of funding to help with the clean up
from the 2022 storm damage caused by an F2 Tornado.
Early Spring of 2022, was rough for Central Ontario. Our
provincial government was able to step up with funding for
cleanup and damages. The MNRF funding was distributed to 22
municipalities, the Township of Madoc chose to litigate Wildfire
Risk by working beside it’s local residents that were affected. The
only municipal out of 22 to do so. Our township was very professional by keeping a blind application
process and relying on fire chief Jason Gear. In doing so, Township of Madoc was able to complete
this project on time and within budget. With a great outcome for everybody, ultimately reducing the
wildfire risk for our community.
Many people worked tirelessly behind the scenes to achieve this, and they deserve to be acknowledge
for their achievements.

Township of Madoc Council and Staff
As I mentioned before, 22 municipalities received funding, our Township of Madoc Council & staff
were able to get the funding and to the people of that needed it the most. That is an amazing
achievement for a group of individuals with different personalities, backgrounds and goals to come
together and work as a team to achieve this - is outstanding. That being said with all these people
working together as a team to achieve the same goal is a perfect picture of how a democratic
government could and should work. For that we applaud each and everyone one of you. Without this team, and effort
from each individual none of this would have been possible. We would like to recognize Fire Chief Jason Gear, as he
went above and beyond his role as a fire chief with this project. It shows his awesome dedication and leadership that he
brings to the community.
Behind the scenes there was a tremendous amount of work from individuals through out the community that came
together to volunteer and help with the project. From writing letters, emails before the funding was even announced, to
help persuade that help is needed, from analyzing legal documents which was way out of everyone’s league to try and
understand - it was like learning a new language. But members of our community rallied and came together alongside
government officials to make all of this possible. We would like to give an honorable mention to Jacqueline Muccio,
Sandor Johnson, Mike Smith, Erin Reitav and Brinna Mumby who all worked diligently and way above and beyond to help
achieve this goa for our community. I, Shane Mumby would like to applaud each and every one of you, as well as the
contractors that were the boots on the ground doing the cleanup.
So with all that being said - THANK YOU to all involved.
