Ivanhoe Cheese

Ivanhoe Cheese is the oldest cheese factory in Canada, growing through 4 different locations in the village of Ivanhoe since 1870. It
began as a farmer owner co-operative and in 2008 returned to this business structure when it was purchased by Gay Lea Foods, a
Canadian Co-operative that operates 10 dairy facilities across Ontario. We proudly employee over 70 employees from all over Hastings
and Prince Edward County and are always looking to welcome new employees as our business continues to grow.
Our product line ranges from retail cheese to processed and shredded cheese and our newest product is a dried cheese snack that is
shelf stable which is great for snacking on the go! We process over 80,000 L of milk per day which equates to 8,000 kg of cheese and
about 72,000 L of whey which is a bi-product of the cheese making process. True to our roots Ivanhoe continues to specialize in
cheddar cheese from mild to 5 year old, we are committed to making cheese in the traditional open style vats and drain tables which
can be viewed from our retail store window.

Our retail store continues to operate from 9-5 daily offering a wide selection of Ivanhoe and Gay Lea products. We also support local
small businesses selling handmade items ranging from soap to maple syrup, cider, honey, etc. We value the support of our local
community and proudly participate in events such as the Madoc Fair, Santa Claus parade and other charity events. Last summer we
celebrated our 150th anniversary by raffling off a free BBQ and set of Adirondack chairs to a lucky customer!
