TECH TALK
Welcome to Tech Talk,
This month let’s tackle the issue of what to do with that computer you retired to the closet
or the one you are thinking about upgrading to a new one. One may refer to these items
as e-waste and disposable. While some simply upgrade to the latest and greatest which is
awesome if you can afford it, but that is not the case for everyone.
I have many terms I use for items that end up past their usable life long before they should be, I call this planned obsolescence.
I do not agree with the practice and make a point of renewing and repairing computers and laptops so they can be re-used.
Let’s keep these out of landfills and if we can put them in the hands of people that may not be able to purchase new
computers.
So, if you have a computer or laptop that has been retired to the closet or some other location and would like to keep it out of
the local landfill site; drop it off at my location. We will do our best to make sure it gets repurposed and in the hands of
someone that could use it.
We can be reached at Dr. Jim’s Computer Repair at 392 Front St in Downtown Belleville.
Until next time.
