                                                  INSPIRING INCLUSIVNESS
Can you imagine a world that promotes equality, diversity and inclusiveness? In 1910 over 100 delegates representing 17
countries, met and agreed with the idea to promote equal rights. The following year, on March 19, 1911, the first
International Women's Day was marked by over a million people in Austria, Denmark, Germany, and Switzerland. Since then
it has grown worldwide being celebrated with a variety of events and talks on March 8th. Here in Marmora it was decided
that one day is not enough! International Women’s Week was born, running from March 1 – 8.

Kicking things off on March 1st is a ribbon cutting ceremony held at Caressant Care Retirement Home, Marmora, at 2pm
with resident Joyce McCaw reflecting on the changes she and other women have experienced over the years. Women in
Wellness Expo on March 2nd will showcase area women in the holistic and wellness fields at the Marmora Community Hall
from 11 -5. This is a wonderful opportunity to try mini sessions, learn about the businesses, and support these women.

It is through events like this that we can learn from one another how to inspire and encourage inclusiveness in all areas of
our lives. By reflecting and learning from the past, we can see where we were, how far we have come, and how much
further we need to go. Gender equality is only the first step to inclusiveness. By opening our hearts and minds, we can
then see benefits through understanding, compassion and value. To learn more about these and other events visit

    MUNICIPALITY OF TWEED
Effective February 23rd, 2024, Half Load Restrictions will be implemented on
    municipal roads until further notice.

On Feb 1st the Tweed Festival of Trees held their cheque presentation to donate the proceeds from the 2023 Festival of
Trees. The Festival raised $25,000 in 2023 (and a total of $298,000 in their 19 years!) which was donated to 18 very worthy
youth based groups and organizations. We were fortunate to receive a donation of $2500 for our pump track project. We
didn't get a picture of us receiving the cheque, that's what happens when you leave a junior Lion in charge of the camera!
We are so lucky to have such a giving community who come out to support our events, groups and organizations. Thank you
again to the Tweed Festival of Trees and everyone who makes donations big or small to our community.
We are still accepting donations for the Pump Track through the Municipality of Tweed, we continue to apply for grants to
help fund the project and once we have enough raised will begin the project.
