BALOCH TRADITIONS
Baloch culture consists of rich traditions and crafts. • Balochi embroidery is a unique, colorful, and intricate craft
done by the Baloch females. • Telling folklores is a custom, and tales of bravery and courage are passed down from
generation to generation. They also honor their tribal heroes in folk songs and ballads. • There are many musical
Instruments exclusive to Baloch culture like Sairoz, Tamboora, and Nal. Their traditional music, called the Nar Sur,
consists of a singer narrating a folk story in a single overtone and a musician playing the twin-flute. • Chaap is the
traditional dance in which they dance in a circle while clapping along with the rhythm of the music. Biochi Lewa,
Latti, and Hambo are some of the types of Balochi Chaap • Rasaaland Lubb are marriage traditions in which Rasaal is
the formal way of sending a proposal to a girl’s family and Lubb is an event where, after the acceptance of the propo-
sal, the groom pays an amount to the bride’s family to assist in the marriage expenses. •Kaak (hard bread) and Sai
skewered meat) are two of the most famous Balochi dishes Some other dishes include Sattu, Braznik. Roganpukht
Chishik and Khurood • Mojol and Kappak are two of the many games played by the Baloch children. Mojol is played
with a set of a sheep’s knee bones. Kappak is played in teams, with all the players balancing on one leg while trying
to knock their opponents off balance.
On March 2 every year, Baloch Culture Day is celebrated which hold immense importance for the Baloch. The trend
of celebrating Baloch culture started from the 15th century from Sibbi, spreading to the other areas.
