Cops and the community
The restrictions seen throughout the pandemic have started to abate just in time for summer to arrive. Although Chicago Police Officers never had the luxury of working from home, they did have to adapt to stay connected with the people they serve and protect every day — which makes the return of in-person gatherings all the more exciting, some- thing evident in recent weeks.

It was all smiles in the 25th District on June 15 when its officers welcomed back the district’s Senior Club for the first face-to-face meeting in more than a year — and the turnout was great.
As part of Juneteenth festivities in the 24th District, members of the CAPS team spent time with kids from Rogers Park and even handed out some toys to the lucky kids.
Every Friday, the 4th District’s Faith-Based Committee comes together to share prayers with anyone who shows up. In June, the group mingled, walked and prayed with community members at Wolfe Park during the weekly event.
Putting a summer spin on the district’s usual Coffee with a Cop, CAPS officers in the 16th turned the neighborhood gathering into “coffee, ice cream and meet a police horse with a cop” on a beautiful June Saturday afternoon in Gladstone Park.
