15th District officer is a neighborhood hero
15th District Youth Officer William Martinez was honored with the Neighborhood Hero Award by Beyond Athletics Chica- go, a program that focuses on personal development and men- tal health awareness, on Sept. 1. The organization bestows the award on brave, selfless outgoing and determined individuals who impact neighborhoods for the betterment of youth and their futures.
15th District fishes with kids
15th District officers attended the first Chicago Fish with a First Responder event on Sept. 4 to introduce 75 children and their families to fishing. Each young angler received a free fish- ing rod and reel and was taught how to fish by a first responder.
Families and first responders enjoyed a picnic lunch after fishing. The event was in partnership with Chicago Fire Fight- ers Union Local 2, Chicago Police Sergeants’ Association, Black Fire Brigade, New Concept Benefit Group and the Union Sports- men’s Alliance.
