On April 19, Officers Ashton McLean-Hall and Cristian Diaz were responding to a disturbance in the area of 2237 W. Montrose when they heard a gunshot coming from the alley. They went to the alley and discovered a person lying on the ground with a handgun next to him. The officers approached and secured the handgun and noticed the offender bleeding profusely from a leg wound. The officers immediately utilized their LEMART training and applied a tourniquet to his leg, at-
tempting to stop the bleeding. EMS arrived and transported the man to the hospital. Due to the large amount of blood, the man would have surely perished if the officers had not stop the bleeding.
It is with great appreciation that the Fraternal Order of Police Chicago Lodge #7 presents Officers Ashton Mc- Lean-Hall and Cristian Diaz with Life Saving Awards.
