 56 CHICAGO LODGE 7 ■ JUNE 2018
C officers hi he roof o raise oe for ecia Oics orch
Blue skies greeted Chicago Police Officers on May 18 as they once again climbed to the top of Dunkin’ Donuts loca- tions around the city to support the Special Olympics Illinois Law Enforcement Torch Run.
The 16th annual Cop on a Rooftop event raised approxi- mately $800,000 at 295 locations across Illinois. Customers stopping to grab a bite or their morning coffee made dona- tions, met Special Olympics Illinois athletes and shared a few smiles with officers doing their part to help an important cause. Officers also picked up donations from passersby and drivers who happened to be in the area.
Here’s a glimpse at a few Cop on a Rooftop moments:
5th District
They were up and at it early in 005, where officers raised $1,016 thanks to the generosity of those who stopped by to contribute.
19th District
On the roof and on the ground, 019 officers spent the morning at the Dunkin’ Donuts in the 3000 block of Ashland to meet and mingle with customers.
