On Jan. 11, Officers Nicholas Morales and Brayan Jaurgui responded to a call of an attempted suicide at 3300 W. 66th Place. They were met by a woman, who told them that her father had taken a large quantity of pills and wanted to end his life. The officers learned that the man had a gun and for- mulated a plan.
Officer Jaurgui scaled the front of the building to monitor the suicidal man, while Officer Morales began talking to him
via phone. The officers eventually were able to convince the despondent man to put down the weapon and come to the door. He was removed from the residence and taken to the hospital for mental evaluation.
