Sometimes it’s about the little things. Taking time for the kids or picking up a shovel for some spring- time gardening work. Throughout the month of April, officers around the city stepped away from their normal routine to connect with local children and engage the community in ways that exemplify how Chicago Police go beyond the call of duty.

Officers from the 12th District lent a hand to help with the Heartland Alli- ance’s Urban Garden in the East Garfield Park neighborhood in early April.

Reaching out to the district’s young- est residents, officers in the 5th Dis- trict visited and spoke to children at a daycare location in the Roseland neighborhood.
Officers in the 8th District hosted Cub Scout Pack 3475 from St. Daniel the Prophet School for a tour of the station in April.
