  54 CHICAGO LODGE 7 ■ MAY 2018
Etching names at the Gold Star Memorial wall
During a solemn April ceremony, the names of five Chicago Police Officers were added to the wall of fallen officers at the Gold Star Families Memorial and Park in April.
The latest names to be displayed on the wall, which includes 578 Chicago officers who were killed or died while serving the city, include Commander Paul Bauer, Pro- bationary Police Officer Frank Hourihan (who died in the U.S. Army in 1918), Of- ficer Bernie Domagala, Officer Andre Van Vegten and Captain Joseph Palczynski.
“Today, Commander Bauer, Captain Palczynski and Officers Domagala and Van Vegten take their rightful place among hundreds of true heroes who gave their lives to this city,” said CPMF Executive Di- rector Philip Cline. “By etching their names in stone at our memorial, we are keeping our promise to ‘Never Forget’ the men and women who sacrificed everything on be- half of the citizens of Chicago.” d
