Mullen still giving back years after catastrophic injury
More than 22 years after an offender shot him in the face and caused catastrophic life-altering injuries, including paralysis, James Mullen continues to help people across the city just as he did as a Chicago Police Officer.
In August, the wheelchair-bound Mullen led a donation mis- sion to benefit the Our Lady of the Angels Food Pantry on North Hamlin Avenue. The event, held in conjunction with his compa- ny, Mullen’s Foods, involved cases and cases of Mullen’s Apple
Sauce and Happy Baby baby food being loaded into vans, trucks and CPD vehicles destined for the pantry. Officers from the 9th District did the heavy lifting to pack the vehicles with the food items.
The caravan of vehicles then traveled to the food pantry, where 11th District officers helped unload the items and stocked the shelves. The delivery marked another successful trip for Mullen, who has made similar food donations over the years. d
