The Polaris Charter Academy’s Kindergarten Crew invited the 11th District to talk about how police officers are community helpers who work hard to keep people safe. The students showed themselves to be inquisitive and excited to have such an important guest pay them a visit.
Christmas Cops in the Community
Without question, Chicago Police Officers face some of the toughest situations imaginable to keep the city safe. But things aren’t all bad — especially around the holidays. Throughout November and December, officers connected with their communities and provided plenty of special moments that helped brighten the season. And it’s clear from the smiles on the faces of officers and children alike that everyone walked away from these interactions feeling the holiday spirit.
        14th District
Officers in the 14th District teamed up with former Chicago Bear Israel Idonije’s foundation for a fun and eventful Shop with a Cop day. A group of 120 children received $100 in gifts, as well as a pizza party and bowling — and a shopping trip to Target.
Speaking of Target, its store on Broadway played host to the 19th District’s Shop with a Cop event, which allowed 60 kids the opportunity to hang out with their neighborhood police officers and pick out a few special items just in time for Christmas.
