Police Officer Ivan Romo
On Nov. 22, 2018, Officer Ivan Romo was off duty, sit- ting in his vehicle at 58th and Talman, when he was ap- proached by an offender and his accomplice with a gun. The offenders demanded the officer’s wallet, and he complied. Then one offender searched Officer Romo and found his police identification. The offender with the gun pointed the weapon at the officer and the officer, in fear
for his life, discharged his weapon, striking the offender. The other offender fled but was apprehended later. The offender with the gun was pronounced dead at the hos- pital.
It is with great appreciation that the Fraternal Order of Police Chicago Lodge #7 presents Officer Ivan Romo with the Distinguished Service Award.
