Gold Star Families light up the holidays
The Gold Star Families Memorial and Park took on a green and red glow during the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation’s annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony on Nov. 29.
CPMF Executive Director Phil Cline and other officials joined Gold Star Families for the event at the park near Soldier Field. In addition to wreaths and lights adorning the memorial itself, blue lights to honor police filled the branches of nearby trees.
The ceremony also served as a kickoff to CPMF’s Operation Santa campaign, which delivers financial support, gifts and holiday cheer to the families of 18 officers who died in the line of duty. d
