will discuss each request and bring its recommendation to the Board of Directors for approval or denial. This process can take up to two months. It’s frustrating for the member and the staff at the Lodge 7 office.
This entire course of action can be eliminated, or at least re- duced greatly, by completing a Union Dues Pension Authoriza- tion form, available at the Lodge 7 office. I encourage all retired members who pay annually by either cash, check or calling with a credit card to sign up for this amazing benefit. Going forward, the pension fund will automatically deduct your annual dues from your November pension check and you never have to re- member to make that call or send that check. The deduction stops automatically when you turn 75. It’s that easy.
Retired members, you have always been a valued and neces- sary part of our organization, and to lose you is devastating to Lodge 7, as well as the State and National lodges. We are always looking and working to improve legislation and benefits for ev- ery member, both while they are on the job and after they retire.
Raise in Legal Defense Dues
Currently, active Members are paying $2 per paycheck toward Legal Defense. With the increase in legal fights we have been facing, we are spending approximately $4.39 per check on Legal Defense. That being said, I will be proposing an increase in Legal Defense to bring the amount members will pay to $5 per check. I believe Legal Defense bills will decrease in 2018, and with the increase to $5 we will be able to recoup the account.
It grieves me to have to do this; however, these are legal bills we currently face, and we cannot anticipate future cases. d
Personal Injury Wrongful Death Medical Malpractice
Trial attorney Ted McNabola has represented dozens of Chicago Police Of cers. He has been selected by his peers as a Top 100 Consumer Lawyer in Illinois, received Martindale-Hubbell’s highest rating for ethical standards and legal ability and serves on the Board of the 100 Club of Chicago.
