  PAINTER TIPS
n When working with Quik Wood Re- pair Epoxy Putty it will create an odor and will be warm when it is activated. Put a small puddle of retarder out on your palette paper to dip your fin- gers into as you are working with it. It will be less sticky. I suggest remov- ing any rings you may have on since the putty will be extremely hard to get off jewelry. If you are comfort- able using them, a pair of disposable gloves works well. Hand sanitizer and baby wipes will help remove the odor. It may be easier to work with a smaller amount and add addition- al Quik Wood Repair Epoxy Putty when forming features. This can be done even if it has hardened. Rolling around the edges of an attached piece with the handle of a brush will help to smooth and adhere it permanently to the gourd or to another dried piece of Quik Wood Repair Epoxy Putty.
n When storing your finished gourd, keep it in a cool, dry area. Do not store in a plastic bin or bag. There needs to be good circulation of air around it so it doesn’t remold.
n If you have trouble floating acrylic paint, it might be your water. We have a well and the water is very hard, even with the softener. I often keep a bottle of distilled water to use in my water basin and I keep a separate container with clean water to dip my brush into before floating.
