LET’S PAINT
Paint in this order: Ribbon, Juniper, Christmas Roses, Ornament Balls.
Use Winsor & Newton Refined Linseed Oil for area of /// and△△△.
RIBBON
TOP OF RIBBON BEHIND BRANCHES
Refer to Diagram 2.
Before painting branches, apply Winsor & Newton Refined Linseed Oil on top area of ribbon.
Then apply Light with Titanium White+Yellow Ochre+ Raw Umber (1:1:tch), softening with mop.
JUNIPER
STEPS 1 & 2: Using liner brush, paint the small branch with Burnt Umber+Ivory Black+Titanium White (1:tch:tch). To paint the leaves doubleload the 1⁄2" angular brush with Medium and Light.
Keep the style choppy and change the angle of the leaves to give it a dimensional look.
STEP 3: After dry, use angular shader with Dark in the base of the leaves.
STEP 4: Use Highlight on the tips of the leaves. Accent with Yellow Ochre in some leaves.
See the Ribbon Mixes on page 42 and Diagram 1 for placement of values. Blend the border between colors/val- ues with mop brush. While the surface is still wet, apply Low Dark Mix in dark area (Refer to Diagram 2.)
After surface is dry, apply Winsor & Newton Refined Linseed Oil in /// and △△△areas, then add Jo Sonja’s Clear Glaze Medium and accent XXX in Highlight.
