ACRYLIC
LET’S PAINT
FACE AND HANDS
Using the no. 6 filbert, basecoat the face and hands with Flesh Tone. Let dry. Lightly transfer the facial details. Use the no. 10 shader to float along the edges of the face, ears, nose, chin, and hands with Gingerbread+Rookwood Red (2:1). Lightly float under the eyes and mouth, inside the ears, and on the nose with the same mix. Let dry and repeat, if necessary. Basecoat the inside of the mouth with Gingerbread+Rookwood Red (2:1). Float along the top and bottom inside the mouth with Rookwood Red. Lightly dry-brush a highlight in the center ears, cheeks, and hands with a brush-mix of Flesh Tone and Snow White. Load the bristles with paint; rub on a paper towel to remove as much paint as possible until almost dry. Apply light pressure (This is also a good way to test the shading before applying it to the surface). Repeat if necessary. Basecoat the eyes with Lamp Black using the no. 10/0 script liner for the lashes. Use Snow White to outline the bot- tom of the eye and dot the sides.
HAT AND APRON
Basecoat the hat and apron with Snow White. Let dry. Float along the edge of the hat and apron with Slate Grey. Repeat, if necessary.
SHOES
Basecoat the shoes with Graphite. Let dry. Dry-brush a highlight in the center of the shoes with a brush-mix of Graphite and Snow White. Let dry. Apply a sec- ond highlight with Snow White on the left side. Float all around the edge of the shoes with Lamp Black. Use the no. 1 liner to outline the soles with Lamp Black.
PANTS AND SHIRT
Basecoat the pants and shirt with Cinnamon Drop. Let dry. Dry-brush the center area with Fiery Red. Let dry and dry-brush a highlight with Snow White. Float along the edges and creases with Napa Red. Repeat, if necessary.
GLASS AND CORK
Basecoat the wine in the glass with Cinnamon Drop. Let dry. Float along the top with Napa Red. Let dry. Float along the edges of the glass and handle with Snow White. Highlight the side and add two small dots with the same color. Use the no. 10/0 script liner to outline the glass and handle with Snow White.
Basecoat the cork with Fawn. Float along the left rim, right side, and top with Mississippi Mud. Highlight the rim with Oyster Beige. Use the no. 10/0 script liner to outline the grapes and the lines down the side with Lamp Black.
BARREL
Basecoat the barrel with Raw Sienna and the hoops with Slate Grey. Use the no. 10 chisel blender to dry-brush a highlight at the center area of the barrel and the hoops with Oyster Beige. Using the no. 6 filbert, float along the edges and the head of the barrel with Burnt Umber. Repeat, if necessary. Use the no. 1 liner to outline the staves with Burnt Umber. Float the ends of the hoops with a brush- mix of Lamp Black and Oyster Beige. Let dry. Darken with Lamp Black.
