gran’s hindeloopen
tray
HELEEN VAN DER HAAR
This project was inspired by a tray that belonged to my grandmother. It came from the old Dutch town of Hindeloo- pen that became famous for its hand-painted furniture and utensils. This picturesque town in the north of the Nether- lands is a must for decorative painters on your next trip to Europe.
PREPARATION
Sand the surface, wipe it with a cloth, and seal it with Jo Sonja’s All Purpose Sealer. When dry, sand and dust. Basecoat the whole tray with a few coats of Capitol Sienna, sanding lightly in between coats. Trace the pattern onto tracing paper and transfer the green center on the base using the stylus and white transfer paper. Basecoat the center with Vines. When dry, apply the pattern.
