Painting on metal, especially reclaimed or found pieces, has always been a favorite of mine. I enjoy the hunt: garage sales, thrift and antique stores, eBay, etc. There is even excitement when finding new primed tin surfaces online. My husband found this piece at a local antique shop for around $12.
This design would look good on many surfaces from boxes to plates and trays to small furniture pieces. Just add more rose balls to fit the surface. This is a fun and totally relaxing design, which I hope you enjoy.
TIN PREPARATION
The teapot was in good condition with slight wear here and there. It still needed to be cleaned well. I like to scruff the surface with S.O.S. pad or sandpaper to give it some tooth, then wash with hot soapy water or place in the dishwasher. Tin must be thoroughly dry before basecoating;. You can dry it with a hair dryer or in a warm oven, making sure all moisture is removed from rolled edg- es and corners. Seal surface with two coats of DecoArt Traditions Multi-Surface Sealer. Dry.
