My inspiration for this design came from the Tuscany theme of my local chapter’s annual luncheon this past fall. I was asked to paint one of the containers for the raffle and thought the green grapes and burgundy background would blend well with our Tuscan theme. The container can be used in a variety of different ways to add a touch of Tuscany to your home décor.
PREPARATION
Sand the surface well and wipe off the excess dust. Mix together equal parts Antique Maroon+DecoArt Multi-Purpose Sealer and basecoat the band at the top and the inside of the wastebasket. (Hint: I like to mix the base color with sealer for the first coat to save a step.) Mix together equal parts of Deep Burgundy+DecoArt Multi-Purpose Sealer and basecoat the remaining areas. Allow to dry completely. Lightly sand to remove any raised fibers in the wood and wipe off excess dust. Apply a second coat of Antique Maroon to the inside and the band at the top and a second coat of Deep Burgundy to the re- maining area. A third coat may be needed for good coverage.
