ACRYLIC PAInTInG BEE SuPPORTS SDP
The Acrylic Painting Bee (APB) chapter, located in Osaka, Japan, works year round to raise funds for SDP and awareness for the art of decorative painting. Over the past two years, this chapter has made sure that the Society is duly represented at the prestigious Japanese Decorative Painting Association convention. APB purchased booth space, provided member volunteers to work the booth, and in 2013 invited SDP Past President Linda Biedermann tda to be a guest at the show. For two years their contribution of funds and hard work have made APB one of the top SDP-supporting chapters.
The Japan Decorative Painting Association is the only non-profit decorative art organization consisting of individual decorative painters and companies that supply decorative painting products. Their goal is to promote decorative painting and enhance members’ artistic talents. JDPA’s annual convention is the largest decorative painting conference in Asia.
In May 2014, the Acrylic Painting Bee chapter teamed up with various decorative painting companies to hold fifty workshops at the popular Hankyu Department store in Osaka’s upscale Umeda Station. With these workshops, APB was able to introduce SDP and our art form to nearly 250 people.
A juried art competition called Tole 30 Contest was also held during the event. Two of the contest’s prizes were awarded in the name of SDP and IMSDP. The two winning pieces are pictured below, and can also be seen at www.tolepaint30.com/english/prize/prize.html.
IMSDP Award went to Nagako Yokoyama
