Shirley Charette, a long-time member of SDP, passed away in April. Shirley joined the Society in 1974. She was a former member of the Pacific Pal-ettes chapter. She resided in University Place, Wash.
Sandra L. Cole cda, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, suddenly and unexpectedly passed away on March 19, 2014. She was a member of SDP for thirty-seven years, and belonged to Red Hat Decorative Brushes chapter in Fair Oaks, Calif.
Sandra’s love for art became a forty-year passion, through which she was able to express the creative talents the Lord blessed her with. She was a Certified Decorative Artist whose accolades include numerous state and national awards, and a Christmas ornament in the White House. Sandra was a published artist, an art judge at many state and county fairs, and was commissioned
for many works both large and small. She was also a freelance artist who traveled around the country learning and teaching others about her craft. Though Sandra was very talented in all mediums, her greatest joys were tole and Rosemaling. Spending time with her artist friends and learning from some of her favorite teachers were activities that served as respite to her soul.
Although we are deeply saddened and left with an enormous void by her passing, we are comforted in knowing that she has received her great reward. Sandra’s love will forever live on in each of us, and we will see her again. —Submitted by Gina Hillmer
Marlena De Fusco, an SDP member since 1992, passed away on June 5, 2014 after a long battle with cancer. Marlena resided in Atkinson, N.H.
Susan L. Harrelson, an SDP member since 2013, passed away in April. She resided in Grass Valley, Calif.
Winnolia Porterfield, an SDP member since 1981, passed away in January 2014. “Pinky” was an active member of Central Oklahoma Society of Tole and Decorative Painters (aka Tole Diggers), and served in many different areas over the years. She resided in Oklahoma City, Okla.
Ernestine Williams, an SDP member since 1988, passed away in December 2013. She was an active member
of Central Oklahoma Society of Tole and Decorative Painters. Ernestine resided in Oklahoma City, Okla.
