Mickey Theobald is a professional artist, author, and teacher. She is inspired by the wonders of nature often painting en plein air or from photographs taken during her travels around the country and in Europe. In Search of a Quiet Place is her vision and it is reflected in her representational art.
She has won many awards over the years and recently was awarded Signature status in the Sierra Pastel
Society for her achievements in that medium. In addition to SPS, she is a juried member of Oil Painters
of America and the National Portrait Society. She is also a member of Pastel Society of the West Coast,
North Tahoe Arts, Shasta and Trinity Art Councils, the Highland Art Center and is a Signature member of
Plein Air Painters of the Northstate. She has been a member of SDP since 1988. She recently had a plein air painting accepted for a show at the Mountainsong Gallery in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California.
Mickey is well known for her decorative painting and has taught classes extensively around the United States. She has had two books published, and took part in a third. In 1998, she won a national Santa painting competition and was featured in Better Homes and Gardens magazine. The Old World Santa on a plate was displayed at Silver Dollar City near Branson, Mo., and then auctioned with the proceeds going to benefit children in the Ozarks. She has served her Magic Palette of Northern California chapter in every capacity since 1987 with two years as president. Visit her website at www.thestudioexperience.com.
