PREPARATION
Remove the arms from the body, and the body from the base. If needed, sand any rough edges. Apply Jo Sonja’s All Purpose Sealer to all the pieces (including the wood costume pieces) and let dry. After sealing, make sure to lightly sand nut- cracker with fine sandpaper to remove any bumps or ridges. HAT: Use a pair of scissors to cut a wooden tongue depres- sor equally in half. Hot glue the two pieces together to make a shorter, thicker wood piece approximately 3" (7.6cm) in length once glued. Sand the bottom edge evenly. Cut two 10” (25.4cm) pieces of macramé cord to wind around the hat. For the hat brim, use the pattern as a guide to cut a brim piece from the brown craft foam.
BELT: Use scissors to carefully cut off the ends of a Wood Skill Stick so the total length is 21⁄2" (6.4cm). Cut one of the 13⁄8" (3.4cm) wood buttons in half to form a half circle. Set these costume pieces aside for later.
