Frame overlay (Item #WDSF417_2) may be purchased from www.creativeartslifestyle.com.
This piece represents the special times family have when gathered around to decorate a Christmas tree.
PREPARATION
Basecoat the panel with Medium Grey Value 6+DecoArt Multi-Purpose Sealer (1:1) using a sponge roller. Wet sand with the 400-grit sandpaper using a circular motion. Position the overlay so you know where the design will be and you can make the background behind the design darker. Using a white chalk pencil, trace around the inside lines of the overlay. Posi- tion the line drawing and draw the table line 4 1⁄2" (11.43 cm) above the bottom edge of the panel.
Mix your own black with Ultramarine Blue+Burnt Umber. Equal amounts of each color will make a dark brown. Start adding more of the Ultramarine Blue to make two different values of black. A cooler black will have more Ultramarine Blue and a warmer black will have more of the Burnt Umber.
Now you should have the colors that will be used to paint the values of the area above the table. Follow Diagram 1 to apply the values. If your brush starts drying, add DecoArt Drying Time Extender Medium instead of water.
