PREPARATION
Take apart the album and sand as needed. Set the back cover and post brackets aside. Trace the pattern and trans- fer to the album cover. Make sure the leaf lines are very dark, because the paint should and will bleed out of the lines. No need for stems or veins yet.
TEXTURE
Place the polka dot stencil at random and smooth a coat of DecoArt Dimensional Effects Paintable Texture over it us- ing the palette knife. Pick up the stencil and repeat until you achieve the desired look. Some of the polka dots will be within the leaf drawing lines. That is fine; we paint right over them. Remember to stay out of the center area with the texture medium because the paper elements go there. If you do get some texture in that area, you can lift it off with the palette knife. Let the polka dots dry. Using the thin burlap, stencil some random areas around the pattern as desired. Again remember to keep the space for the paper photo and recipe card clear of texture. Let that dry well.

LET’S PAINT LEAVES
On your palette, put out a small amount of Country Red, Heritage Brick, True Ochre, Golden Straw, Light Parch- ment, Ultra Blue Deep, Sapphire, Plum, Pansy Lavender and Orchid all at the same time. Thin down each color and dab a little onto the leaves rotating color until the leaves are completely filled in. Splatter a little. Try not to rub and mix color; let it bleed together. The colors should seep togeth- er and into the wood grain. This is why we don’t seal the wood. All of the leaves should have varying color value to make them interesting. I like to put some yellow at the tips.
The mini embellishment leaves are painted and fin- ished the same as the leaves on the album.
LEAF TEXTURE
If you have painted over the transfer lines, mark them again or use a pencil to darken. It is important to keep the crackle medium inside the lines. It is also important to pull the medium right up into the tips of the leaves.
