LET’S PAINT
BASECOATS: The orchid petals are Baby Pink. Leaves and stems are Desert Cactus. The center parts of the orchid: A is Baby Pink, B is Red Violet, C is Warm White. Refer to the Step-by-Steps on page 61.
ORCHID PETALS
See the painted Step-by-Steps on page 61 as well as the finished orchid as each petal is painted slightly differently. STEP 1: The first shade is Peony Pink. Use the 5⁄8" angle brush to paint back-to-back floats down the center. Use the large mop brush to soften.
STEP 2: Float Vivid Violet to shade. Use the small mop brush to soften.
STEP 3: Deepen with Red Violet, allowing some Vivid Violet to show.
STEP 4: The deepest shade is Dioxazine Purple.
STEP 5: The light edges of each petal are floats of Baby Pink. Some petals have floats of Cadmium Yellow as tints. Always mop with the appropriate size mop brush to soften and remove brush strokes.
STEP 6: Use the liner with thinned Red Violet for veins. Float Desert Turquoise as reflected light.
