Spread a thin layer of Burlap over an entire surface of a waxed palette sheet. While the paint is wet, roll the rolling pin over the paint. If there are spaces on the rolling pin with no paint, go over the palette again. Make sure the paint covers all of the raised areas. Roll the paint onto banner in one continu- ous roll. Do not go back over any missed or light areas. It is O.K. not to cover everything; it adds to the vintage feel of the background. It is important to do this step quickly.
Do not allow the paint to dry on the palette or the rolling pin, wash them immediately. You may have to use a scrubbing sponge and toothbrush to get all the paint off.
NOTE: An alternate background can be done with an all- over stencil design.
Tape off 1⁄4" (.635 cm) from the edge on each of the long sides of the banner and paint a border trim with Zinc.
Paint the molding pieces with Zinc on both sides. Dry- brush wood molding with Burlap.
