STEP 3: Brighten smaller highlights with Warm Grey 20%. Cre- ate even smaller, brighter highlights with French Grey 10%. STEP 4: Add White highlight shine areas as indicated.
Use French Grey 90% to create a cast shadow on the background next to the right side of the spoon with a light pressure to start. Go back with more pressure right next to the spoon. (See Steps 3 & 4 on page 75.)
SPOON BOWL
STEP 5: Placement is shown for Beige Sienna and Warm Grey 70% in the bowl of the spoon. Shading and highlights for the bowl of the spoon follow the same color sequence as the handle. STEP 6: Placement is shown for Warm Grey 90% (shade) and Warm Grey 30% (highlight).
STEP 7: Use remainder of the colors in the following order: French Grey 10%, Black, White.
Use Warm Grey 30% to blend if needed and to add some smudgy areas at lower right of the bowl.
Go back and evaluate all areas, strengthen the shades and highlights. Create a few bright shine areas with White.
Optional – if you wish to have a smoother overall look, you may use a no. 2 Scharff Moon Scrubber to blend your colors into the fabric. This may require additional layers of pencil.
FINISHING
IMPORTANT: Spray workable fixative over entire banner to set the pencil. If you do not do this step, the pencil will easily rub off.
Varnish both sides of the banner and wood pieces with your favorite satin varnish.
Glue the decorative molding to the cloth banner – crown molding at top and trim piece at the bottom. Add a saw-tooth hanger and enjoy!
