Treasurer’s Report for 2016
TREASURER’S REPORT
The total assets of the Society as of December 31, 2016, were $464,163. The net assets, after liabilities on a consoli- dated level, including both Board designated and unrestricted funds were -$109,018.
The combined income for 2016, including interest, net realized and unrealized gains was $916,092, with 59% coming from membership and chapter dues. The change in net assets for the year was a loss of $59,728.
The Society continues to face declining membership and attendance at the annual conference in 2016. Our magazine continues to remain strong and registrations for our 2017 conference exceeded our 2016 numbers and achieved our budget expectations. In 2016 the Society sold the headquarters
building and moved into new office space where we are able to continue to display our museum pieces. The proceeds from the sale of the building went to pay off the Society’s outstanding line of credit. Our goals in 2017 and 2018 are to strengthen our membership community, and support you and your local chapter.
Members and chapters must continue to work together to introduce our love of painting and encourage others to join our Society.
