LET’S PAINT
Refer to the Step-by-Step on page 61.
STEP 1: Basecoat the blossoms and rose with Medium White and allow to dry. Adjust from large to small brush as needed.
HOLLY LEAVES
Refer to the Step-by-Step on page 61.
STEP 2: Dampen a few leaves with DecoArt Extender & Blending Medium. Wipe off excess with soft paper towel. Edge one corner of the no. 4 flat with Pine Green. Keep the strong color along the edge of the leaf. Dry.
STEP 3: Dampen and wipe off excess DecoArt Extender & Blending Medium. Apply Pine Green plus a little Prussian Blue Hue, both stacked on one corner of the brush. This goes across the stem end of the leaves. Dry.
STEP 4: Linework on leaves is a brush mix of Pine Green+ Prussian Blue Hue (1:tch) thinned with water using the liner brush.
PINE GREENERY
Refer to the Step-by-Step on page 61.
STEPS 1 & 2: UsethelinerbrushwiththinnedPineGreen+ Prussian Blue Hue (1:tch).
RED BLOSSOMS
Refer to the Step-by-Step on page 61.
STEP 2: Dampen and wipe. Apply Brown Madder.
STEP 3: Dampen and wipe; apply True Gold floated in around the edge of the petals.
STEP 4: When dry, do linework centers which are dabbed with Brown Madder.
STEPS 5 & 6: Add dots of Pine Green and a few Medium White. When dry, apply DecoArt Extender & Blending Medium and wipe.
PAINTING TIPS
Veiling is a bottle mix of Medium White+ DecoArt Triple Glaze Medium (2:1). Veiling keeps for a long time so you can make a lot or just a little. David Jansen mda taught me about veiling.
